Well I think it’s fair to say my blog has been a bit neglected over the past couple of years, but it’s time for some new content and I’m going to start off by featuring one of my weddings from late last year.
I first met Samantha for her hair and makeup trial in September. She was keen to try a half-up/half-down hair style with soft waves, and as she didn’t usually wear a lot of makeup, wanted to keep that fairly natural. After chatting through some options, Samantha also decided to try some natural strip lashes with her makeup. If you’re not sure about strip lashes or haven’t ever worn them before, I would always advise trying them out first, as in Samantha’s case, she loved the look but just couldn’t get used to wearing them, so decided they definitely wouldn’t feature in her wedding makeup!
Samantha was getting ready at the Fraser Suites in Glasgow city centre, where she had stayed the night before. I arrived bright and early and set to work on beautifying Samantha, her mum and two bridesmaids.
I started with mother of the bride, who opted for a blow dry and natural makeup with light smokey eyes to complement her navy-blue outfit. Next were the bridesmaids, who went for similar styles – half-up/half-down with braids and soft curls, although I think Samantha’s sister Sasha may just have the thickest and longest hair I’ve ever seen! Both girls opted for a classic smokey eye look and nude lips. Gorgeous!
Last but not least, it was Samantha’s turn. Following the trial, when she took her hair down at the end of the day, Samantha had decided she loved the curls so much that she wanted to wear it completely down and show off those fabulous curls, so that’s exactly what we did! Make up was a lovely shimmery natural look and no strip lashes….. just perfect!
It was a lovely morning, full of chat and giggles and before I knew it the girls were all ready and it was time for me to leave. I was delighted to be part of Samantha’s big day – thank you so much for choosing me to do your hair and makeup!
